Keep Calm and Study On

Sooooooooooo, it’s been a while since I’ve blogged it up!! But I’m back and I’m so very excited to share with you what God has been doing in my life. Not that long ago, I did an online bible study through proverbs 31 ministries. The study was on the book (awesome book I might add) What Happens When Women Say Yes to God by Lysa Teurkeurst. It was my first OBS and it had a huge impact on my life. I was able to connect with other women who were passionate about growing in The Lord and I was challenged to say yes to God in some areas that I was having a hard time saying “yes” to.

When the study came to an end, I was determined not to stop saying YES to God just because the study was over. I was also determined to stay in His word. Most of you know by now, that I have 3 littles at home and some nights are long—-> One babe is hungry, one lost her soother and is crying frantically trying to find it, and the oldest comes running into mine and my hubby’s room and says “I can’t sleep”. Oooo those nights are long and I say to you in all honesty it’s mighty tough after broken up sleep to rise early to spend time with my Savior. I don’t like to admit that, but it’s oh so true.

And so then most days are filled with joy and laughter and wonderful memories- those days come with challenges as well- a determined 2 year old that does not want to co-operate because she thinks her way is better then mommy’s way. A 4 year old who is adamant that he does not need to use the bathroom before he goes to the bus stop- well…You can imagine what happened when we got to the bus stop. (enough said)
And with a baby that is teething to be what seems every day and every night, cutting nap (and every other sleep time) short…

Let’s just say that it’s not easy peasy to be getting into the Word.

Good thing I’m stubborn!…maybe ‘determined’ sounds better…. I have been finding different times each day that works best for THAT day to read God’s word and study it. Some days it’s mornings, some days afternoons and some days evenings. Sometimes it’s even in the middle of the night. Some days it’s a half hour, some days it’s only 10 minutes- but everyday, I’m blessed by it.

I’m a routine kinda gal, BUT, that just doesn’t work most days with 3 young children. Routines and structure are great to have, but I’ve learned that you need to be willing to get outside your box. You’re blessed when you do.

So ladies, if you’re like me and don’t have 100 spare minutes in a day to dig deeper into God’s Word, look for those windows of opportunity, because God will give them to you. My prayer is that we become (and remain) determined to seek after Jesus each and every day- to acknowledge Him, praise Him, thank Him and read His Word which is our life guide-our spiritual food.

Be blessed my friends

  2. We sound so much alike! I LOVE routines as well, but sometimes my quiet times comes sporadically throughout the day. It’s like I can’t plan when God wants to talk to me! I’m a little “stubborn” too. Especially when someone tells me it can’t be done (devil), I’m more determined to prove them wrong and show them I CAN find time for Jesus! I am very busy too, but I’ve always heard, we make time to do what we “want” to do. If our priorities are right, we should be able to get out quiet time done everyday. I will be praying for you fellow sister with our next OBS!

  3. Thank you for the trip down memory lane of how life used to be when my kids were growing up. I miss those days sometimes. Thankful for those windows of opportunity God gives us to spend time in His Word. I’m always reminding myself to give God my best and He will take care of the rest.
